Evergreen trees

I am not a tree,

I am definitely not

an evergreen tree.

In winter I am

More partial to silence and

And I do not bloom,

I do not open up for

anyone at all.

There was my mistake,

I tried to bloom for you then.

Me, who needs to rest.

I took your candor

And kindness as something

I had to repay.

I forgot it then,

That I deserve so much more.

That I need much more.

Before I can bloom,

before I can grow and be

all that I can be.

So I learned from this,

This winter I learned I can’t

be your evergreen.
